Future of Fired 5-foot-9, 300 Pound Officer Still Unclear

Bellevue, NE - The future of a Bellevue police officer who was fired for being overweight and unfit is still unclear.

Sarpy County District Court Judge William Zastera, who heard Chris Parent's appeal after he was fired by the city, sent the case back to the Bellevue Civil Service Commission. An attorney representing the city told Action 3 News the judge didn't reinstate Parent to his job, but he didn't terminate him either.

That leaves Parent in limbo. He was fired November 28th. Parent's attorney, Steve Delaney, tells us it's up to the city to take the next step.

Attorney Michael Polk tells us the city has a month to decide what its next legal move will be.
