Cox Classic Brings Three New Events

Omaha, NE - Golf fans already descending on Champions Run in west Omaha. About 100,000 people are expected to attend.

The fairways groomed, greens cut, and golfers on their game. "Watching Brandon Crick play golf!" said a golf fan.

The Cox Classic kicks off this year without TV coverage but for fans, they get a bonus. At the event there are more entertainment features like new bleachers on the 8th, 9th and 18th holes. "Spreads people out on the course more, I think it's great," said a fan.

Also, there's a wine garden just off the practice tee and a mini sports bar with dollar specials whenever the eagle lands. "On the 9th hole we have this thing called the Eagle's Nest where if anyone makes an eagle then we give them dollar beers for the next 45 minutes which is one of our most popular holes," said Cox Classic spokesperson Barry Kriha.

Enjoying the day, grandfather and grandson take to walking the holes. "I live in Lexington, Nebraska so I don't get to see him that often so it's a lot of fun to come and do something with him," said grandfather Sid Jaeger.

As for another boy, he says he's addicted to the Cox Classic. This is his third year volunteering with his own grandpa who works the 11th hole. "He brought me down one year and I loved it, helping out," said volunteer Cole Heirmuli.

The Cox Classic is trying to bring in not just golf lovers but others out to enjoy a great weekend.
