Neb. students have chance to win money, tickets

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska State Treasurer Shane Osborn and the Omaha Royals Baseball Club have kicked off the their annual college-essay contest.

The contest is open to all seventh- and eighth-grade students.

Essays must be postmarked by April 19. Essays should be no more than 750 words and explain the students' goals and dreams for the future.

Each essay, along with a cover sheet, should be mailed to: The Omaha Royals, Attention: Diann Spataro, 1202 Bert Murphy Ave., Omaha, NE 68107.

A first-, second- and third-place winner will be selected from each of Nebraska's three congressional districts. Winners will get money to put in the state's college savings plan and other prizes.
