Omaha, NE: Omaha police arrest one of their own Thursday night after allegedly attacking his wife.  Officers were called to 1902 North 63rd Street just after 11:30pm for a report of a domestic violence assault.  The wife of officer Sean Heyenga, 41-year-old Nicole Miller, told them she had been attacked and strangled by him.

Court documents say Heyenga had been drinking before he got home.  He and Miller began arguing about kids.  Documents claim Heyenga wrapped both hands around Millers' neck and began strangling her until her eyes rolled back in her head and she lost consciousness.  When she woke-up, court documents claim Miller ran to a neighbors house to call 911.  Officers say they even saw visible marks of the attack on her neck.

Court documents also claim Miller says Heyenga has been violent before with her.  Miller claims she has been too scared to come forward because Heyenga is a police officer.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine says this case is especially disturbing because Heyenga is a police officer and insists his case will be handled like any other domestic violence case.

Heyenga was arrested and booked for Domestic Violence Strangulation, a felony and terroristic threat charges.   Department officials say Heyenga was hired as a non-sworn employee in November of 2007 then was sworn in as an officer in June of 2008.   He has been placed on administrative leave.

Action 3 News learned Heyenga's 12-year-old son was home during the alleged attack.  The county attorney says he is answering police questions about the accusation.
