ASHLAND, Neb. (AP) - Financial difficulties have forced the Strategic Air & Space Museum to eliminate some jobs and cut hours.
A statement from museum board chairman David Scott says the museum no longer will be open on Wednesdays. Its doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. six days a week instead of opening at 9 a.m.
The statement also says five jobs were cut.
The museum sits just west of metropolitan Omaha and is a major tourist attraction along Interstate 80. It has space exhibits and vintage aircraft such as a World War II B-29 bomber and a more current B-52 jet bomber.
Acting executive director Evonne Williams would not comment on Wednesday but did confirm the museum's loss before depreciation was nearly $515,000 last year and more than $438,000 in 2007.
