Charges filed in crash that killed Neb. brothers

Associated Press - October 30, 2009 7:45 PM ET

PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. (AP) - Cass County Attorney Nathan Cox says he has filed two misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide charges against a man for his suspected role in a crash that killed two brothers.

Cox declined to discuss details surrounding the charges filed Friday against 23-year-old Brandon Heanue (HEN-yoo).

There was no answer at a phone listing for Heanue. Court records don't yet list an attorney for him.

Eighteen-year-old Michael Matchus and 21-year-old Kyle Matchus, both of Louisville, died in the June rollover crash near South Bend.

An accident report said Heanue passed the brothers' pickup in a no-passing zone and attempted to return to the proper lane too soon, causing their vehicle to lose control.

Heanue hasn't been arrested.

He will be arraigned Nov. 17.
