Missing Norfolk Teen Found Dead by Hunters

Posted:

Dental records confirm a body found by hunters over the weekend is that of 19-year-old Lacey Anderson. Authorities broke the news to her family late Monday afternoon.   Those hunters found her body in Pierce County on Saturday.  The cause of death has not yet been released.

It was the news Lacey's mother feared.  Lacey Anderson was 19 years old and was last seen by her mother August 23rd. She took only her purse and cell phone. She left her car in the parking lot. Her mother says Lacey didn't have any money and believes someone picked up her daughter from their apartment that Sunday night.

Lacey was getting ready to go away to prison. She had pleaded guilty for her involvement in a drug-related drive-by shooting. She faces five years behind bars. Lacey's mother didn't believe her daughter ran away because she didn't want to go to prison. And even the Madison County Attorney didn't think she skipped out on her court date. Joe Smith says, "She went to every court hearing. She didn't miss one court date. I don't know if she is dead or alive, but we are following every lead we get."

Her mom always feared Lacey had been killed. "I think she is dead," she told us in October, "but I want to find her body. I believe someone knows something and they need to come forward."
