YORK, Neb. (AP) - Federal officials say a York company's practices contributed to the death of a worker in August.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Crane and Grain Service for three violations that played a role in 23-year-old Korey Schall's death. OSHA also ordered the company to pay a nearly $10,000 fine.
Schall was fatally injured by electricity while assembling a grain bin on a farm near York.
OSHA says Schall's death could have been prevented.
The agency says an improperly wired cord was in use at the time of the accident. And OSHA says the company used damaged ladders and didn't properly train workers on ladder use.
Company owner Roger Fuehrer (FEW-roar) declined to comment Wednesday because he hasn't met with OSHA to review the findings.
