OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Creighton University has reached an agreement to play its home baseball games at a new downtown ballpark beginning in 2011.
The university struck a deal Tuesday with the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority to play at TD Ameritrade Park. The MECA board approved a 10-year lease.
As part of the deal, the Bluejays will play some home games in 2011 and all of their home games at the Omaha stadium in 2012.
Construction is under way on the stadium that also will host the College World Series. The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2011.
The stadium replaces Rosenblatt Stadium, home to the CWS since 1950.
Planners say it will hold about 24,000 fans.
