Neb. lawsuit over ATV death apparently settled

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A lawsuit seeking several million dollars after an Armenian exchange student died in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Nebraska has apparently been settled.

Sixteen-year-old Romelia Papazyan died in 2005 after she was injured while riding an ATV on her host family's farm in Washington County. Authorities said Papazyan was not wearing a helmet.

A lawsuit was filed in 2007 on behalf of her estate. Among other things, it sought $12 million from Michael and Joanne Khank and alleged their negligence as hosts played a role in the accident.

The Khanks' Lincoln attorney, David Dudley, confirmed the settlement Friday. He declined to discuss its terms.

U.S. District Magistrate F.A. Gossett is anticipated to rule on the suit's dismissal in coming weeks.
