Associated Press - October 15, 2009 7:54 PM ET

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa medical examiner's office has confirmed that a body found in the Cedar River is a University of Iowa student who's been missing since last month.

Forensic pathologist Jonathan Thompson says the body was positively identified as 28-year-old Jacques Similhomme on Wednesday.

A cause of death won't be known for weeks pending the results of toxicology tests.

Volunteer searchers found the body in the Cedar River on Saturday.

Similhomme was last seen on Sept. 29 in Coralville. His car was found nearby on Sept. 30, and his wallet was still inside.

Family members had organized searches for Similhomme since his disappearance. His father is a minister in Minnesota.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids.
