BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) - Beatrice police say a man sought in connection with the death of his girlfriend's 14-week-old daughter has been captured in Omaha.
Chief Bruce Lang says 30-year-old Karl Kjeldgaard (kee-YELD-gard) was captured at an Omaha motel at about 7:45 Wednesday morning and has already been brought back to the Gage County Jail.
Lang says Kjeldgaard is expected in court Thursday to face formal charges. Kjeldgaard had been sought on a warrant alleging felony child abuse.
Police say the death of Alayna Harder is suspicious and that there are signs of child abuse.
She died early in the morning on Sept. 7 at a home in Beatrice.
