CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has agreed to pay to replace a flooded-out fire station just blocks from the Cedar River.
Cedar Rapids Fire Department Chief Steve Havlik says the new station will cost between $5 million and $7 million.
FEMA will pay 90% of the bill, and the state of Iowa will pay for the other 10%.
The Central Fire Station served as the command center for the fire department before it was flooded by 12 feet of water in June 2008.
Havlik says the new building will take "years" to plan and build.
