No contest pleas entered in Neb. tax evasion case

Associated Press - August 12, 2009 4:35 PM ET

CLAY CENTER, Neb. (AP) - A former Adams County Treasurer's Office employee accused in a tax evasion case has pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors.

Michelan Parr of Hastings entered her plea Wednesday to charges of official misconduct and abuse of public records. Her attorney, Arthur Toogood, said in exchange, prosecutors dropped a felony charge of aiding in the preparation of a false sales tax document.

Parr is the daughter of former Adams County Treasurer Julia Moeller. Authorities charged the pair last fall and accused them of collaborating to help Moeller avoid paying sales tax on a motor home she bought.

Moeller faces charges of official misconduct, abuse of public records and tax evasion.

Parr is scheduled for sentencing Oct. 9.
