Storm system whips through southeast Nebraska

Associated Press - August 10, 2009 8:05 AM ET

AUBURN, Neb. (AP) - A storm system that thundered across southeast Nebraska left a wind-whipped trail of damaged cars and trees. No serious injuries were reported.

Winds estimated at 65 mph were reported late Sunday afternoon in Johnson and Nemaha counties.

The National Weather Service says emergency management officials and law officers reported blocked roads and some power outages.

Auburn resident Mark Oliver told KETV that it was "an impressive display of nature."

The Weather Service says that earlier Sunday, 2-inch hail was reported near Columbus in Platte County.
