CLAY CENTER, Neb. (AP) - An Edgar man has been sentenced to at least 37 months in prison for his role in a September 2008 fatal car crash.

Twenty-9-year-old Clifford Brown was sentenced this week in Clay County District Court. In May, he pleaded no contest to charges of motor vehicle homicide and criminal mischief.

Authorities say Brown was driving east of Clay Center when he failed to yield at Nebraska Highway 41 and collided with another vehicle. Both vehicles landed in a ditch, but Brown's rolled and caught fire.

After the crash, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

1 of his passenger, 36-year-old Cruz Zeitno of Lexington, later died as a result of his injuries.

Another passenger and the other vehicle's driver also were injured.
