Omaha, Ne.- Action 3 News has learned that the FBI is investigating a possible threat against Omaha area Congressman Lee Terry (R-Nebraska).
According to a spokesman for Terry, on Friday a man walked into the Congressman's West Omaha office demanding to talk to Terry, who was in Washington D.C. at the time.
Terry's District Manager, Tory Lucas, tells Action 3 News the man talked about this week's confrontation between Terry and Illinois Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr.
Jackson, who is a Democrat and a black belt in karate got into a war of words with Terry on the House floor. In the end nothing happened, but the run-in made headlines.
According to Lucas, "Apparently the gentleman read the article about Congressman Terry's incident with Congressman Jackson. He referenced that article and said he'd like to fight Congressman Terry. He said he'd like to hit him and said he's Congressman Jackson's hit-man."
The man is described as white, five feet nine inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, and about 50 years old.
Action 3 News is told the man, who left the office building after about 10 minutes, did not pull a weapon.
Once he left Terry's staff called U.S. Capitol Police in Washington, which then contacted the FBI.
The FBI has not been available for comment.
