Survey suggests many workers may want new jobs

Associated Press - December 5, 2009 11:15 AM ET

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A new survey suggests employers could see a significant number of employees leave for new positions once the job market improves.

Opinion Research Corporation says 80 percent of people who currently have a job say they would consider leaving it if they were presented with other opportunities.

Opinion Research's Lisa Wojtkowiak says that means employers could face high turnover as the economy improves if they don't work to engage their employees.

Only 19 percent of the survey respondents said they were happy with their current employer.

The phone survey of 2,009 adults was completed in November.

Opinion Research Corporation is owned by Omaha-based InfoGroup.
