Overflowing Toilet Leads Police to Kids Left Home Alone

Omaha, NE - An overflowing toilet leads police to two kids--ages 2 and 4--who are home alone.

A neighbor who had water leaking into his apartment from above alerted the apartment manager to the problem; when they found the toddlers home alone at 94th and Holmes Plaza, they called police.

The children reportedly told officers their mom was at work and they were alone watching TV. They told police "they are usually left alone when their mom goes to work."

Officers also found a 6-inch pan on the stove with chicken drumsticks in it. The police report says it "showed signs of children cooking it."

So far, the father has been cited for child neglect.
