Omaha, NE - There was laughter and tears as students and teachers at Creighton University watched Barack Obama take the oath of office.
"It's a crazy feeling. I've got goosebumps right now," said one student.
"My heart is pounding so hard. I'm so emotional. I have a lot of emotions going through. It's a very historical moment and a great way to start off the new year," said student Shauntel Vaughn.
It was an overwelming moment for many.
"I'm speechless," said Dan Acay.
"We are witnessing a historic event and it's life-changing in certain aspects," said Francia Origanti.
"It means everything to me. We have a black role model now. Not just Obama, but Michelle and the kids," said Vaughn.
Later in the day, students volunteered at the Omaha Hope Center.
