Omaha, NE - Two dogs have one Omaha neighborhood on alert. The Humane Society looked out for trick-or-treaters Friday night, after a dangerous dog attack. The dogs are still running the streets.
Humane Society workers spent the night trying to find the dogs that went on the attack. One of those dogs attacked Mary Ann Carrigan.
Carrigan thought they were friendly. She tells us she was walking in the park early Friday morning when two Pit Bulls running wild, one male and a female, approached. "The male was really aggressive. He was growling and showing his teeth and he just approached me. And kinda bolted towards me and knocked me on my back and um locked down on my right arm."
A man in the park saw what was happening and sprung into action, fighting the vicious dog off. Bloody and beaten, Carrigan got up and the dogs high tailed it out of there. Carrigan suffered puncture bites in her right arm. She says, "This dog doesn't need to be loose."
Friday night there was an all out dog hunt. Action 3 News was with the Humane Society as they searched the area, with the safety of trick-or-treaters in mind. After several possible sightings, they came up empty handed.
Carrigan once thought Pit Bulls were misunderstood, now she has a new view. "I don't trust them. I believe what I've heard about them. That they can turn quickly. It really doesn't matter who you are."
The dogs are believed to be Pit Bulls. The male is described as black and white, wearing a blue collar with tags. The female is brown and tan, she wears a red collar with tags. If you see these dogs in the Dewey Park Neighborhood, the Humane Society says stay away and call them.
