Omaha, NE - Krypton Comics celebrates 15 years in Omaha.  The store is filled with hundreds of thousands of comics.  There's one that continues to stand out.

Kevin Hayner:  "I've enjoyed Star Trek over the years.  I look forward to seeing what else they do with it.."

Kevin Hayner is a store manager at Krypton Comics.  He tells Action 3 News why Star Trek is so popular.

Kevin Hayner:  "The interpersonal relationships.  I think it dealt a lot with racial issues, but put it in a context where everyone wasn't scared of it because it was aliens and not different colors of skin."

It's not just reading that attracts Star Trek fans.  They also shop at Krypton Comics for collectibles.

Kevin Hayner:  "We have some Star Trek action figures.  There are still four monthly titles that come out from Star Trek.  Some from Captain Kirk's era up through Deep Space Nine and Next Generation."

Captain Kirk is a popular character in the series played by William Shatner.  His picture graces a number of comic book covers.

Kevin Hayner:  "He's the big hero and got to romance all the women and the leader."

A leader in a series and a series that continues to lead.
