Omaha, NE - A big weekend in Omaha for the people close to Warren Buffett and his empire. Close to 30,000 Berkshire Hathaway shareholders packed the Qwest Center for the annual meeting. Taking center stage, how to stay afloat with the weakening economy. Even Buffett's billion-dollar empire isn't safe from the staggering economy, but he doesn't seem too concerned.
The sluggish economy may not be something worth celebrating, but that's not stopping thousands of people from seeing green, Buffett style.
"We're all here to make money," said Mark Wieland, who traveled from Georgia to go to the convention.
Billionaires Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger agreed the country's economy isn't at it's best, but gave some advice to shareholders.
"Not just trade it quick, stay with it," said Wieland. "I think we will get out of it."
"I think Warren is optimistic about the economy," said Tom Nickerson. "It has ups and flows and we're just in a flow right now."
But for many people, Buffett's best advice didn't involve the economy.
"One of the things he said to me that really stood out was the most important decision you can make in your life is who you're going to marry," said Dan Devine.
And that's something to sing about.
The annual meeting wraps up Saturday. Shareholders will spend the weekend shopping at a discount at a variety of stores.
