An old issue abortion is making news in the Nebraska Senate Race.

Democrat Scott Kleeb, who says he's looking for a new answer to the abortion issue, refuses to tell me if he's pro-life or pro-choice.

Jordan:     Are you pro-life or pro-choice?

Kleeb:      Like everybody that I know I'm opposed to abortions. I think everyone is a tragedy.

Jordan:    Do you think women should have a right to choose?

Kleeb:      I think debates like this are what's part of the problem.

Jordan:    Should women have the right to choose or not?

Kleeb:      Well like I said it's something that is going to be left to these kinds of conversations that we continue to have to have.

Jordan:     You're not ready to answer the question? You don't have an opinion?

Kleeb:       I do have an opinion.

Jordan:     You just don't want to tell me.

Kleeb:       No that's not it at all, but what I'm arguing here is for something new something different looking at how we can reduce the number of abortions in this country.

Jordan:     You don't answer this question I guess.

Kleeb:       Well I talk about reducing the number of abortions is this country which everybody on this issue agrees with.

Jordan:      Do voters have a right to know if you're pro-life or pro-choice?

Kleeb:        Voters have a right to know what my values are and then when I represent them that my values are shared with their values that my judgment is shared with their judgment, absolutely.

How I am going to come at a question. Am I going to continue to have the same debates that we've been having, that have not gotten us anywhere, whether it's on economic policy, whether it's on foreign policy, whether it's on a range of issues or am I going to try to find new ways to do a shared goal.

We need to stop fighting these old battles that we've been fighting and start finding new common ground on which we can all agree.

Jordan:      And if I or someone else accuses you of ducking the issue?

Kleeb:        I'm not at all, I'm not at all.

Jordan:      But you're not answering it.

Kleeb:        Yes I am.

Jordan:      Because I'm asking you does a woman have a right to choose, and I'm not getting ‘Yes she does, or no she doesn't.'

Kleeb:        But Joe that's not entirely true. I'm saying I like everybody I know am against abortion and I'm saying that we as a country need to start focusing on what we share; reducing the number of abortions in this country.
