New York - Maribel Rodriguez appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" this morning, apologizing for her son's crime, saying she's "devastated" with the victims' families. Rodriguez's son, Robert Hawkins, fired more than 30 rounds inside Von Maur, killing eight people before he shot himself.

Rodriguez says her son had no hope, faith or courage. She says that she did her best in raising him, but added that the victims' families could hate him if they want to.  Rodriguez told Good Morning America anchor Diane Sawyer Hawkins left a voice mail message for her saying he loved her and he was sorry. She described her son as a "little boy".  

Hawkins did not live with his mother. In one of the three suicide notes he left, Hawkins wrote, "I love you Mommy".
