3 Prison Employees Fired After Facebook Postings

Lincoln, NE - Three prison guards were fired after an investigation into comments they made on Facebook.

One guard reportedly wrote that he enjoyed smashing an inmate's face into the ground; two others supported him in comments they posted.

The case has now been turned over to the Lancaster County Attorney's office for review.

According to a news release from Corrections Director Robert Houston, "a use of force involving one of the aforementioned staff members did in fact occur" at the state pen. Staffers are required to record any use of force. But the release says, "No acts of excessive force or inmate abuse were discovered."

The Nebraska State Patrol also investigated and concluded that "no evidence of abuse existed."

The release says, "The three employees are no longer employees of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services as a result of their actions on Facebook."
