Nebraska lawmakers appear to be inching closer to a vote on helmets. Senators are considering whether to repeal the Nebraska law that requires motorcycle riders to wear helmets. Those who want to repeal the law say riders often bypass Nebraska to ride in states where they don't have to wear helmets, such as South Dakota and Iowa. Those who want the helmet law to remain in-place believe it's a safety issue.
An amendment, introduced Tuesday, would require motorcyclists to have long-term care insurance to cover injuries. A vote on the effort , to go allow motorcycle riders to go without a helmet, is expected to be very close.
