Omaha, NE - A homeowner in West Omaha has a lot of rebuilding to do after her home's back deck went crashing down. The weight of all the snow and ice proved to be too much and the deck crumbled near 122nd and "Q".
The owner of the home tells Action 3 News, she was on vacation in Nevada when she got a call from her contractor, who was doing remodeling at the home. He delivered the bad news about the deck. The contractor later told us, he heard a loud boom and a crashing noise. The deck, which was bolted to the house and only about four years old, completely broke apart. He estimates the damage at possibly ten thousand dollars or more.
The contractor says the deck collapse should serve as a reminder to other homeowners, to shovel the snow off their decks.
