Muzzleloader deer hunting opens Tuesday in Neb.

Associated Press - November 30, 2009 7:55 AM ET

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska's muzzleloader deer-hunting season begins on Tuesday, and game officials say there are still plenty of deer and large bucks available.

Nebraska Game and Parks Commission officials say hunters were somewhat hindered by the delayed corn harvest during the firearm deer season that just concluded. So, muzzleloader hunters should have some good opportunities.

The muzzleloader deer-hunting season runs through Dec. 31.

During last year's muzzleloader season, 15,199 permits were sold and 6,946 deer were taken.
