Warren Buffett Teaches College Students Life Lessons

The US unemployment rate reaches double digits. In October, 10.2% of Americans were out of work. That number rose from 9.8% in September.  The new number is the highest since 1983. Friday, President Obama says he won't rest until all Americans who want work can find work.

Those unemployment rates are pretty alarming for students graduating college some of the best and the brightest in Omaha Friday with Warren Buffett!

After getting buttered up with a nice gift bag from a grateful college student, Action 3 News asks Warren Buffett what he thinks about the newest numbers for unemployment, now hitting the double digits. Action 3 news asks, "It's a 10.2% unemployment rate, do you have any inspiring words for the students? Warren Buffet answers, "Ha ha, well, the students, this group, they'll have jobs waiting for them."

With a smile he continues to share his wisdom with future business leaders.  Students get to spend an entire day with Warren Buffett, now they come from all over the country just to see him.  Boston College and University of South Dakota students are just two of six universities participating at a time when the unemployment rate is the highest many of these students have seen in their lifetime. "I work in the financial services industry, I think we'll weather the storm pretty well. I think that part of the economy's recovering but I do worry," said Boston College student, Brendan MacKenzie.

As for hanging out with the second richest man in the world; these students don't mind a bit. "He says, be smart, do what you know, and do it well," said Boston College student, Lea Stearns.

"The success hasn't gone to his head," said MacKenzie.

Congress just signed new legislation providing additional unemployment benefits to people out of work.
