Posted:

Omaha, NE - On Thursday, thousands show up for Omaha's first H1N1 vaccine clinic. People started lining up outside the First United Methodist Church as early as 6:00 in the morning.

In eleven hours, Douglas County Health vaccinated 4,674 people.

"Because I don't want to get sick!" said one woman in line.

The clinic at the First United Methodist Church at 70th and Cass from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.  However, lines got so long that it was cut off at around 6:30pm.  Officials say that was to make sure those standing in line could be assured of getting the vaccine.

Two more clinics are scheduled next week.

Burke High hosts a clinic on November 10th.  Benson High holds one November 12th.  Both are from 4:30pm to 8:30pm.  Those clinics are only for people most at risk including pregnant women, people who care for infants, those with chronic health conditions, and health care workers.

To speed up the process, the Douglas County Health Department is asking people to go to their website, fill out and print a consent form. We have added the link directly to the form attached to this story.
