SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) - Reports of snowfall in Nebraska's Panhandle continue to rise as a slow-moving snowstorm pushes into the west end of the state.
Estimates posted Wednesday afternoon by the National Weather Service range from 8 inches in Whiteclay, at the South Dakota state line, to 4 inches in Gordon, only 23 miles to the southeast.
In the morning, Scotts Bluff County officials were reporting at least 3 inches of snow.
The heavy snow and whipping winds have socked in airports and hampered travelers in Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska.
Several schools in Nebraska's Panhandle closed in anticipation of the storm.
Great Lakes Aviation canceled a late-morning Scottsbluff flight from and to Denver.
