LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraskans rallied in favor of health care reform, part of a national effort by supporters of President Barack Obama's agenda to counter skepticism of his proposed overhaul.
A crowd estimated at more than 600 gathered at the Nebraska Capitol on Tuesday to build momentum for a reform package and pressure the state's congressional delegation to support it.
Nick Rathod, an official in Obama's administration and a Nebraska native, was the keynote speaker at the rally organized by AARP Nebraska.
Congress will wrestle with health care reform when members gather after Labor Day.
Polls have shown fading public support for sweeping changes in the wake of organized opposition from conservative groups.
